Workflow Integration Management Activity Group
The basics:Automation of the process flows is a classic cross-discipline task in which the Job Definition Format (JDF) plays a crucial role. JDF allows all the relevant data in a company to be passed on during networked production: operating and machine data, content, master, job, production, control and quality data. Even though JDF has only been on the market for a few years, virtually every printer now assesses whether it can be used before investing in new machines or new management and control systems. Empirical evidence shows that companies networked with JDF make considerable savings in terms of time, material and resources. Standardisation provides further potential for savings, for instance in colour definitions, ensuring colours which can be reliably reproduced—a particularly important issue in the field of corporate design.
PrintCity and its Workflow Integration Activity Group support the dissemination of industry standards such as JDF, ISO 12647 and the System Brunner™ global standard, which provides support when creating, assessing and monitoring production processes. PrintCity is a member of CIP4. At drupa 2004, as a global first, PrintCity unveiled to captivated specialists from the trade five extremely complex model plants networked with JDF.
