Publishing, Commercial & Web Activity Group
The current situation in publishing is that printers handle large-volume print contracts which recur at periodic intervals. The way forward lies in smaller circulation publications aimed at specific target groups and printed on specially selected paper, which are processed digitally and printed in decentralised locations. A further trend is towards commercial printing on coated paper on web offset machines. Increasingly, newspapers are becoming semi-commercials. The printers are becoming independent companies or profit centres and onetime competitors are bundling their activities.
PrintCity’s Publishing, Commercial & Web Activity Group works on projects like Ultra Wide Web Offset, Web Press Energy Efficiency, big roll diameterand value added printing on newspapers. It has organised a number of information events, e.g., for Russian printers in order to foster local collaboration and the exchange of experiences.
Since 2002, the Publishing, Commercial & Web Activity Group has been responsible for publishing the magazine 'Webline'. The magazine covers trends in web offset printing and publishing.
